Mason was born April 27th, after a desperate plea to induce, then eventually going into labor. Without the "benefit of an epidural" Mason came into this world at 10:05 in the morning. She had a few jaundice issues that lasted past her one month check up (turned out to be breast milk jaundice), which worked out with time. She then decided to have a bit of Torticollis, which requires PT once a week for 3 months. All in all we are making it. The first 3 weeks were very hard. I felt out of control and within an inch from losing it at all times. Then, slowly, a routine came and Jarett and I became a team. He handled Ethan and I handled Mason and we found our footing.
Ethan is growing so. I was helping him wash his hands tonight. He stood in front of the sink and outstretched his hands under the faucet. His fingertips touched the water, but not his whole hand. I loved that. I found myself wishing his hands would never reach under the water.
I still pinch my myself every day that God has deemed me responsible enough to entrust me with one of his children, much less 2! I feel so honored, yet overwhelmed by the amazing responsibility.
Ethan got dumped this week, by his first girl friend Rivers. He tells me, "She told me, you're not my girlfriend anymore". Weezie tells me that she decided to move on after Ethan refused to tell her he loved her. Needy girl! He now tells me Little Jordan is his new girl friend. He seems to be doing ok : )
Ethan is somewhat indifferent to cohabitating with his new sister, rarely showing much interest. When he does he is a bit rough and smothering. Tonight he “helped” give her a bath. It was actually twice the work, but sweet to see his interest in Mason. Some funny things about Ethan; he is into Talladega Nights phrase, “shake and bake” and Jarett has also taught him “if you are not first, you’re last!” At the Family Reunion, Ethan was the youngest of all the kids, and showed everyone up when he tubed and knee boarded! He also went fishing a few times and we even caught a 5 lb Carp on a kiddie scoobie doo rod on a bread crumb. We were very proud parents. Uncle Dave told Ethan, “it’s not age, it’s attitude” and Ethan repeated his new mantra several times to anyone who would listen.
We've signed Ethan up for soccer, so I promise to update with pictures of games.
